Gemma Roselló Prados, PhD.

Gemma Roselló is a CIDSAV’s researcher and her experience is focused on Plant Pathology. Training Biotechnologist (UAB, 2008), she began her research experience in Plant Genetics Department of Molecular Biology Institute of Barcelona (IBMB-CSIC), where she did her internship. Later, she joined the Plant Pathology group of Food and Agricultural Technology Institute (INTEA) in the University of Girona for the   Food Biotechnology Master internship (2009) and the subsequent realization of her PhD research in biological control agents for the control of phytopathogenic quarentine bacteria, which finalized with the PhD degree by the University of Girona (2016).

To obtain a broader vision of Plant Health and acquire new knowledge about fungi and phytopathogenic pests, studied the Plant Helath Master in the Universitat Politècnica de València (2015), giving a more agronomic vision to her training. Throughout her research career, she has acquired outstanding skills in microbiology, particularly in vitro antimicrobial activity tests and ex vivo and plant efficacy trials of both fungi and bacteria, including quarantine pathogens. Moreover, it also has extensive experience in molecular biology techniques used for the identification, detection and quantification of phytopathogenic microorganims. Apart from being involved in CIDSAV’s research, both in services and projects, is currently in charge of CIDSAV greenhouse and the biosecurity coordinator of the authorized facilities available in CIDSAV to work with plant quarantine pathogens of great economic interest.
