Anna Bonaterra Carreras, PhD.

Anna Bonaterra is associate professor in the Department of Chemical, Agricultural and Agri-Food Engineering at the University of Girona (UdG). Her research area is focused on Plant Pathology, especially in minimizing the use of pesticides and the sustainable management of bacterial plant diseases. She defended the doctoral thesis in 1997 and her training was complemented in various study leaves in research centers related to Plant Pathology (IVIA of Valencia, INRA of Angers and CRIOF of the University of Bologna and Microbial Biotechnology (Chemical Engineering Department of the UAB). She is a researcher at the Plant Pathology group of the Institute of Food and Agricultural Technology of the UdG, a member of the consolidated research group (2017 SGR 00784) recognized by the Generalitat de Catalunya. Her current research focuses on obtaining, characterizing and improving microorganisms for use as biopesticides in the control of plant diseases. Currently the interest is focused on obtaining peptides from selected bacterial strains. She is co-author of 30 scientific articles in journals referred to in the SCI, and several dissemination articles and book chapters. She is the inventor of 2 patents in the field of microbial biopesticides.
