Alternative Protection of Vegetal Protection Interregional Pyrenees

(PALVIP) is a  project  created between the framework of the transnational European cooperation programme  Interreg POCTEFA 2014-2020, in which can participate the countries of Spain, France and Andorra.  The project budget is 1.3242.871 € and it is 65% financed by ERDF founds.

The project brings together six partners:

Chambre d’Agriculture des Pyrénées Orientales, Université de Perpignan Via Dolomita (UPVD) from Roussillon and Institut Català de la Vinya  i  el Vi (INCAVI),  Universitat de Girona (UdG), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and the enterprise Futureco Bioscience, all from Catalonia. The aim of the project is to find new biocontrol solutions to protect the most important crops in the agricultural Mediterranean area.

Thanks to the complementary competences between the partners, the project aims to carry a global approximation that includes:

  • New bioproducts formulations
  • The analysis of their mechanism of action and their implication in the plant Induced Systemic Resistance against fungal pathogens diseases
  • The effect of these products in the organoleptic characteristics, sanitary and environmental impact

The main goals are:

  • To create a research net between France/Spain that could be able to face the problems that currently are affecting the culture production
  • To launch new biocontrol products (bioplaguicides) in the market adapted to Mediterranean crops, with high effectiveness, and also being economically acceptable for the users in order to promote the sustainable agriculture development
  • Allow the economic development of enterprises producing bioplaguicides in Catalonia and Roussillon, and enhancing the development of local industries related to the production these kind of products
