The kick-off meeting of the project “Beyond Xylella, Integrated Management Strategies for Mitigating Xylella fastidiosa impact in Europe” BeXyl was held in Córdoba from October 17 to 19, 2022. The project is funded by HORIZON-CL6-2021-FARM2FORK-01-04, and has the participation of 30 partners from different research groups, institutions and companies from different European countries.
The purpose of the meeting was to officially start the project and establish a common understanding of the goals, define the work to be carried out by each partner in the framework of a multi-actor approach, outline the envisaged difficulties and possible mitigation measures.
Among others, the kick-off meeting addressed:
– The project’s management and implementation plan, work packages and tasks
– The establishment of a common vision and understanding among partners to ensure the efficient development of the project tasks, and secure project’s goals and expected results
– The exploitation of the background and state of the art on X. fastidiosa research, the interactions and collaborations to be strengthen with complementary initiatives at international and national level.
The CIDSAV director Emilio Montesinos and the researcher Anna Bonaterra participated in the meeting. Emilio Montesinos presented the objectives and main tasks to be developed by the work package WP6 on: Economically and environmentally innovative, sound solutions for effective control of Xf and increase of plant resilience to Xf infection.
