Dr. Aina Baró Sabé developed the thesis entitled “Experimental basis for the control of plant diseases caused by Xylella fastidiosa using synthetic antimicrobial peptides” in the Plant Pathology group of the Institute of Food and Agricultural Technology, directed by Emili Montesinos, Esther Badosa and Laura Montesinos. It was the first doctoral thesis in Spain dedicated to the quarantine pathogen Xylella fastidosa. This research has earned her the 2021 Extraordinary Doctorate Award in Technology from the University of Girona.
