Beatriz Gascón Sangüesa defends her Doctoral Thesis

On October 24, 2024, in the auditorium of building P4 of the Escola Politècnica Superior de la Universitat de Girona and within the Doctoral Program in Technology, the defence of the doctoral thesis, “Obtención y caracterización de hongos asociados a plantas con potencial como bioplaguicidas y biofertilizantes” was defended by Beatriz Gascón Sangüesa and directed by Esther Badosa and Emili Montesinos.

This thesis has focused on the isolation, identification, and characterization of fungi that present characteristics of interest, due to their development as phytosanitary products for the protection of crops against diseases and for the development of biostimulants. Since the products to be developed would be used in the Mediterranean agroclimatic zone, fungi adapted to the agroclimatic conditions of this area have been isolated.

As a result of this work, three strains of the Trichoderma genus have great potential for the development of new phytosanitary and biostimulant products.
