Project Structure
Timeline and different stages of the Project
5 Work Packages

The Project is structured in 5 Work Packages (WP) with their corresponding Activities. Each WP is coordinated by one of the partners according to the following schedule:

WP1

Project design and implementation

Objective:

The first working package of the project aims to establish a solid management and coordination foundation for overseeing project activities efficiently. This initial package introduces vital management strategies and tools, guiding the project from start to finish:

  • Introduction of Management Plan: At the beginning, a comprehensive plan covering management, quality, and evaluation will be shared with partners during the initial meeting.

  • Creation of Administration Unit: A specialized unit will be set up for strict budget oversight and financial management.

  • Budget and Cost Monitoring: Using Excel tools, the project coordinator and the Quality Assurance Manager will track budget use and the allocation of work days for Intellectual Outputs (IOs) among partners.

  • Partner Engagement in Budget Management: Partners will oversee their budgets and report spending, ensuring collective management and promoting open communication.

  • Handling of Scope, Time, and Budget: Regular meetings will tackle issues related to the project’s scope, schedule, and finances to keep the project on track.

  • Comparative Budget Analysis: The project will compare planned versus actual resource use and work quality, providing a framework for evaluating financial and operational performance.

  • Provision of Documentation: The coordinator will supply all necessary administrative and financial documentation and updates, ensuring partners have the tools for effective project participation.

WP2

Mapping & Clusterization of teaching & assessment in STEM education

Objective:

WP2 will create the analytical basis for the development of the assessment of STEM students’ preparation by remote and evaluation of eLearning practices, considering gender issues. Its two specific objectives are:

  • To create an understanding of the current situation for assessment of students and of evaluation of learning activities in STEM disciplines in southern Europe (Italy, Portugal and Spain), considering specifically potential gender issues during the assessment.

  • To generate a global understanding of the typology of assessments and evaluations being employed by remote by clustering the assessment and evaluation systems identified according to heterogeneous parameters and outcomes measures.

WP3

Gap analysis

Objective:

Providing a gap analysis that helped identify the current challenges and specific needs on remote assessment in STEM education and considering potential gender differences. Its two specific objectives are:

  • An in-depth and grounded understanding of the current needs in the assessment systems of the STEM disciplines and geographic scope of the project, considering potential gender differences.

  • Empirical evidence through questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and a set of focus groups, about the gaps in the current assessment systems trying to evaluate the learning experience of STEM students.

WP4

Benchmark and guidelines for monitoring and evaluating remote learning activities in STEM

Objective:

WP4 will provide a benchmark and guidelines, supported by the EQAAs participating in the project, for monitoring and evaluating remote learning activities in STEM in higher education. Its two objectives are:

  • WP4 will build on the results from the gap analysis exercise contrasted with state of the art realized in the mapping exercise and provide an understanding of normative actions that need to be implemented to properly evaluate remote learning activities in STEM. It will include specific gender actions if it is required.

  • WP4 will produce user-friendly benchmark and guidelines that translate the normative actions described into actionable implementations. Benchmark and guidelines should employ the support of graphic design and visualization tools to facilitate the understanding of the assessment suggestions and further implementation strategies.

WP4 will contribute to foster a benchmark and guidelines, which does not exist yet, of how learning activities in STEM assessed and evaluated in the future. The framework of this WP4 will be based on the methodologies and best practices detected on WP2 and WP3.

WP5

Diffusion, exploitation and sustainability plans for on-going implementations

Objective:

The WP5 will provide support to the diffusion to the obtained results of the project and an exploitation and sustainability plan for on-going implementations of the guidelines. Its aims are:

  • Spread as much as possible the knowledge generated in the project, not only among the partners and participating countries, but in all European HEIs and EQAAs. It is important to ensure that all European EQAAs consider the results of the projects obtained in the design of their guidelines, while all HEIS have clear benchmarks in remote assessment in STEM disciplines.

  • WP5 will define a collaboration model between the partners and the ever-growing community of stakeholders engaged in the project after its finalization. This model will include a roadmap and a collaboration space that allow the community of partners and stakeholders to exchange their experiences.

  • WP5 will ensure the sustainability and exploitation of the results of the project, to be useful for all the partners and assuring that the main results of the project are updated continuously.

WP5 will contribute to access to many HEIs and EQAAs around Europe a benchmark and guidelines, which does not exist yet, of how learning activities in STEM assessed and evaluated in the future. In addition, its objective is also to assure the further collaboration between partners to always dispose of updated information. The updated outputs of the project, will be very useful for all the stakeholders during the next years.
