class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The proposal targets a quarantine plant pathogen,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong>Xylella fastidiosa<\/strong><\/em><strong>,\u00a0a xylem-associated bacterium\u00a0that is causing significant (socio)economic and environmental losses to European (including Spanish) agriculture and forestry, trade, and the environment.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>X. fastidiosa <\/em>has been identified as a major transboundary plant pest, posing a serious threat to food security and the environment worldwide. Thus,\u00a0<em>X. fastidiosa<\/em>was ranked first in the priority list of pests in the EU for different environmental impact indicators that included the evaluation of impacts on street trees, parks and natural and planted areas; undesired impacts of control measures on the environment; and impacts on biodiversity and ecosystem services.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is a two- year\u2019s proposal started in December 2022 and will end in\u00a0 november 2024 and is financed by Uni\u00f3n Europea- NextGeneration EU\/PRTR .The\u00a0<strong>overall aim<\/strong>\u00a0of the present Project is to develop interdisciplinary, translational approaches to provide novel innovative biological tools to reduce the ecological impact of control measures and restore\u00a0<em>X. fastidiosa<\/em>\u00a0threatened agricultural and natural ecosystems. \u00a0This approach will consider the genetic diversity present in the EU areas where\u00a0<em>X. fastidiosa<\/em>\u00a0is established (subsp.\u00a0<em>fastidiosa<\/em>\u00a0ST1,\u00a0<em>multiplex\u00a0<\/em>ST6, ST7 and ST81 and subsp.\u00a0<em>pauca\u00a0<\/em>ST53 and ST80).<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To achieve the\u00a0<strong>objectives<\/strong>, an interdisciplinary research consortium will join to develop innovative biological tools that can be used at a later stage, to implement tailored IPM programs for mitigating\u00a0<em>X. fastidiosa<\/em>\u00a0impact in the EU, particularly in Spain, and help to restore the biodiversity of affected agricultural and natural ecosystems in line with the EU Green Deal and the Farm to Fork strategies.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element fastidiosa\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><strong>subspecies.<\/strong><br \/>This objective will be led by IAS-CSIC-Subproject TED2021-130110B-C41.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>&#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>To evaluate the biocontrol potential of already isolated and\/or new bacteriophages against\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong>X. fastidiosa\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><strong>subspecies.<\/strong><br \/>This objective will be led by IVIA-Subproject TED2021-130110B-C42.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>&#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>To select natural and synthetic\u00a0functional\u00a0peptides against\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong>X. fastidiosa<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<strong>subspecies.<\/strong><br \/>This objective will be led by University of Girona-Subproject TED2021-130110B-C43.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>&#8211; <\/strong><strong>To explore the natural resistance (non-hosts) or tolerance to\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong>X. fastidiosa<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<strong>in main perennial crops, forestry species, and plants from the natural landscape of affected outbreaks areas in Spain.<\/strong><br \/>This objective will be developed by all partners.<\/p><p style=\"text-align:
